Hello Flyer Families! I am really looking forward to the 24-25 school year! Our FLYERS are awesome, and we love helping them be successful! I just wanted to touch base about some topics we covered at our parent meetings. We talked about how important our parents and guardians are when it comes to student success. We can’t achieve all we would like to without the support of our parents and guardians. We need your help with encouraging the students to keep trying and keep working! When the work gets harder, they have to keep pushing. Academic success is a top priority at Farristown, and we want every student to be ready for the next grade level by the end of the year.
Attendance is very important, as you already know. We need the students to be here so that they get the best instruction possible. Once students get to middle school, it is sometimes difficult to get make-up work completed if they are absent often. If students need to miss, please remember to get excuses turned in quickly. We have some new state guidelines about attendance, so we will need to make sure absences are excused.
Farristown is a Renaissance School. On the school website, under DISCOVER FTMS, you will see a Renaissance tab. There, you can see the outline of our Renaissance Program and our theme for this school year: One Team. One Dream. We really wanted to build a sense of community by focusing on working together and getting along with each other. Requirements for Renaissance include guidelines for attendance, academics, and behavior. Our goal is for every student to be part of Renaissance!
The FTMS students are wonderful to work with, and the staff here at Farristown is second to none. I have 100% confidence in their ability to help students achieve at high levels. It will sometimes seem like there is quite a bit of homework. You may think we are asking them to read a great deal. You may even have to help with homework sometimes. No matter what, you should know that we are doing what we think is best for your students. Our plan is for each one to be successful!
I am so excited to get the year started. Before you know it, we will be approaching our Holiday Break! Until then, if you have questions, please call the school.
